About This Team: The Collingham, Coddington, Beacon and The Meerings beat area is situated north east of Newark, the area in question covers approximately 40.47square miles and incorporates the Beacon Ward of Newark along with the villages of Coddington, Barnby in the Willows, Brough, Langford, Winthorpe, Holme, Collingham, Besthorpe, Girton, South Scarle, Spalford, Wigsley South Clifton, North Clifton, Thorney, and Drinsey Nook. It is in the main a rural community, which each year comes together at the local Showground to hold one of the largest agricultural shows within the county. We do however have one of the largest Currys Depots in the country, which is situated along the A1 and throughout the villages there are various smaller businesses within the communities. The main arterial routes through the area are the A1, A46, A17, A1133 and the River Trent along with the main railway line that runs through to Nottingham and Lincoln. The area also supports several Nursery, Infant and Junior Schools that help to serve the diverse communities. All but six of the villages hold regular Parish Council meetings that we as the local Safer Neighbourhood Team attend.
