- The current population of Balderton and Fernwood is approximately 10,000. The Balderton and Fernwood area borders the A1 road making it easily accessible and goes as far as the Highfields School on London Road. There are 4 nurseries, 3 primary schools and 1 comprehensive school. The area has several parks, the largest being off London Road on Coronation Street. The community has a large leisure centre available to everyone. There are 2 village halls within the community. The area is made up of a selection of retail shops including 2 supermarkets. Balderton and Fernwood are self-contained communities outside of the main shopping town of Newark, providing a number of facilities for young and elderly residents.
