About This Team
This area consists of two compact areas bordering the Forest Recreation Ground. The population structure is very diverse with regards to age groups and ethnicity, ranging from the young to a larger growing OAP group. The area is very diverse in nature and has a large number of distinct ethnic groups representing a wide variety of cultures throughout. The area is mixed in terms of its housing stock and is home to many students who choose to live there because of the convenience of the University and City Centre. Arboretum Area has large education establishments with the Nottingham Girls High School and Nottingham Boys High School. Radford Road is the main shopping area with a mix of businesses largely run by people from various ethnic groups. There are many restaurants situated along the Radford Road offering tempting local delicacies. Bentinck Primary School sits at the junction of Bentinck Road and Alfreton Road. Between the Birkin Patch and the Arboretum is the Forest Recreation Ground, which has a large park and ride site. Over the past eighteen months police have taken positive action to eliminate the car crime taking steps to adhere to a more efficient security network. To date this a very secure site for public parking. Forest Road East is within a part of Nottingham known as the Vice Area. There is a second large open space called Arboretum Park, which along with the Recreation Ground stages major City events such as Goose Fair, Gay Pride and Nottingham Carnival. The border of the area is from Gregory Boulevard to Mansfield Road and from Peel Street at the edge of the City Centre, to Alferton Road by following the tramlines along Waverley Street.
