- About This Team
- The Town Centre is a small beat geographically, stretching in an elongated shape along the distance covered by the Main Street. It includes all the shops in the Town Centre, along with the Springfield Retail Park to the North. The shops are a mix of small, independent retailers, larger High Street chain stores such as Argos, Iceland and Wilkinsons, and supermarkets such as Morrisons on the retail park to the north. Bulwell is one of the largest shopping hubs of outer Nottingham, benefited by the transport network and the large surrounding population of Bulwell generally, and Broxtowe and Hucknall nearby. The beat contains numerous licensed premises and the main problems are shop theft by day and lower level asb in the evening times. There is a bus station, NET Tram stop and British Rail station just outside the centre also, giving access to other parts of the county, and into the City. There are only 132 residential premises on the beat; only one of these is a Council-owned premises, with the rest being a mix of privately owned, private rented and housing association properties. The area benefits from a Shop Radio Link Scheme where retailers are able to alert each other to potential suspects or problems. It also benefits from extensive council run cctv. There is now in place a council employed Town Centre Manager who is responsible for pulling together services and agencies in the area.
