It is predominantly a commercial area with many shops and places to socialise. There are four main car parks within the area, New Street, Exchange Street, Chapelgate, and Churchgate There are a growing number of public houses, which attract people from the surrounding area including Gainsborough, Worksop and Ollerton. Retford market takes place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays.
