- The Parish of Winscombe and Sandford, centred around the Parish Church of Saint James, includes the villages of Barton, Oakridge, Sandford, Sidcot and Woodborough. It is a thriving community with a successful parish council who meet once a month in the Community Centre in Winscombe. At the 2001 Census, the settlement of Sandford had a population of 883 people. Sandford has a pub, a village shop, and a primary school.
