- About This Team
- In recent years Hartcliffe has been the recipient of a large amount of government funding which has been used to change the face of Hartcliffe's heart, Symes Avenue. With the completion and opening of Morrison's new store, along with numerous smaller stores within the complex, a new, modern look has raised the estate's image, bringing more visitors and trade to the local area. The @Symes building now holds a new library and office space for many local agencies, and the Avon Fire Service have opened their customer contact office, believed to be the first of its kind in the country. Running through the centre of the estate is a large green area, which is known locally as Willmott Park. This has for many years been an area where high levels of anti-social behaviour have occurred, but a residents' association has now been set up, improving links between the community and local agencies. Park wardens have been employed and significant improvement works for the park are being made. Local police officers are working hard to engage the community through regular beat surgeries, where local residents can attend to voice their concerns and highlight potential problems within the neighbourhood. Information on the beat surgery dates etc can be found under 'Noticeboard' on the beat page.
