- About This Team
- Wiveliscombe has recovered from the closing of a busy holiday route at the beginning of the 1990s and has a diverse economy and a rich cultural tradition. There are a number of licensed premises in the area, providing beer from the two local breweries. Wiveliscombe has a number of smaller villages and hamlets surrounding it. These include Chipstable, Stawley, Ashbrittle, Bathealton, Appley, Greenham, Waterrow and Raddington. The population of the area is made up of local people with many newcomers wanting a better quality of life. Many work locally or commute to the main nearby towns of Taunton or Wellington. Crimewise Wiveliscombe and West Deane is fairly low. It does occasionally suffer from travelling criminals, as do many areas. There are numerous well-run Neighbourhood Watch groups in the area.
