Sefton Coast Nature Conservation Strategy PDF 288 KB
Joint Report of the Leisure Director and Planning Director
Minutes:
Further to Minute No.48 of the meeting of Cabinet Member – Leisure and Tourism held on 7 January 2009, the Committee considered the joint report of the Planning and Economic Regeneration Director and the Leisure Director that presented the Sefton Coast Nature Conservation Strategy for approval.
Attached as annexes to the report were a copy of the Sefton Coast Partnership Nature Conservation Strategy and Biodiversity Delivery Plan 2007, and the Position Statement on Restoring Dune Habitats on the Sefton Coast.
RESOLVED: That
(1) the establishment of a Sefton Nature Conservation Forum to allow for clear and open discussion in respect of the of the objectives of the strategy be approved;
(2) Cabinet be recommended to approve the Sefton Coast Nature Strategy and Biodiversity Delivery Plan;
(3) Cabinet note that the Committee welcomed and endorsed Natural England’s position statement indicating that it would no longer clear - fell large areas of coastal woodland, the result of which would be no net loss resulting from human activity; and
(4) Cabinet be recommended to affirm that the decision of the Council (Minute No.62) of its meeting held on 4 March, 2004 and that it must remain as an important landmark in our efforts to preserve Sefton’s coastal woodland.

The Committee considered the report of the Planning and Economic Regeneration Director that sought authority to carry out works in default in respect of non compliance with a notice under the terms of Section 215 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 to the following property within the Queens Road/Bedford Road HMRI area – 64 Hawthorne Road, Bootle.
RESOLVED:
That the Planning and Economic Regeneration Director be authorised to execute the works required by the Section 215 notices in respect of the property at 64 Hawthorne Road, Bootle, pursuant to Section 219 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990, subject to the necessary funding being provided by the Cabinet, who have specifically set aside funds for Hawthorne Road Area Improvements.
