Minutes: \n\n \nMembers considered the Redditch Partnership\nSustainable Community Strategy 2011 – 2014 and its four\nassociated Action Plans. \n\n Officers reported that the Strategy had been\nstructured around four key priorities that had been identified\nthrough the 2009 Comprehensive Area Assessment in which\nWorcestershire was given a ‘red flag’ for differences\nin the quality of life for people in Redditch compared to the rest\nof Worcestershire. \n\n The four priorities had been identified\nas: \n\n \n\na) \nhealth inequalities; \n\n\nb) \neducation attainment \n\n\nc) \nthe economy; and \n\n\nd) \nareas of deprivation \n\n These priorities had been further developed\nthrough consultation with residents in 2010. \n\n Concern was expressed that the comments of the\nOverview and Scrutiny Committee had not been made available to the\nCommittee. \n \nTo consider\nrecommendations of the Grants panel for funding allocations to be\ngranted via the 2011/12 Grant programme. \n\n (Report\nattached) \nAdditional documents: \n\t\t\t\t\t\n
Minutes: \n\n \nThe Committee considered a report which sought\napproval for the recommendations of the Grants Assessment Panel in\nawarding grants to voluntary sector organisations for 2011/12. \n\n Officers reported that the total budget\navailable for grants in 2011/12 was £239, 000 and that 67\napplications totalling £519,074.26 had been received. \n\n Members were informed that total funding of\n£230,154 had been recommended by the Grants Assessment Panel,\nwhich would support 28 Voluntary & Community Sector Projects /\nOrganisations. The\nremaining £8,846 would be split between the two remaining\nrounds of the Stronger Communities themes. \n\n During consideration of this item the\nCommittee noted that the Student Council had, over a number of\nyears developed a grant giving role and that currently it had\nsubstantial financial balances. In the circumstances the Committee\nfelt it appropriate to reallocate the Council’s annual\ndonation of £520 to its own minor grants budget until such\ntime that the Student Council require the donation. Officers were\nto advise the Student Council prior to consideration by\nCouncil. \n\n RESOLVED that \n\n \n\n1) \nthat grants be awarded to\nvoluntary sector organisation as follows: \n\n

Minutes: \n\n \nThe Committee\nreceived a report which sought approval for the revised scope and\nfunding for River Revetment Works at Old Forge Drive and Park\nWay. \n\n Officers reported\nthat work had been previously proposed at 3 locations where\nsignificant erosion of river banks had occurred: \n\n \n\n· \nSite 1 and 2: \nOld Forge Drive \n\n\n· \nSite 3: \nPark Way (near the rear of Dolphin Road allotments.) \n\n Members were\ninformed of the reasons to exclude Site 3 from the scheme, which\nwere outlined in Appendix A to the report. Minutes: \n\n \nThe\nCommittee considered a quarterly performance report, which showed\nindicators that had improved, declined or remained static when\ncompared with the same period in the previous financial\nyear. \n\n Officers reported that of the 41 indicators\nreported this quarter, 46.3% had improved compared to the same\nperiod last year. \n\n Three indicators were highlighted as showing\nparticular concern: \n\n \n\na) \nBV 012 – the number of\nworking days / shifts lost to the Local Authority due to sickness\nabsence per full time equivalent staff member has increased from\n6.71 days to 7.84 days when compared to the same period last\nyear; \n\nb) \nBV 079b(i) – the amount of housing benefit\noverpayments recovered as a percentage of all housing benefit\noverpayments, when compared to the same period last year, has\ndropped from 77.35% to 73.82%; and \n\nc) \nNI 192 – the\npercentage of household waste sent for reuse, recycling and\ncomposting has dropped from 28.68% to 27.6% when compared to the\nsame period last year and from 31.26%, compared to the same period\nin 2008/09.
