Motion
“Following the riots in Hackney on August 8, this Council commends residents and businesses who stood side by side to support and rebuild their community and reclaim it back from the looters and criminals who committed unjustifiable violence.
This Council believes:Â
1. That
despite the damage inflicted on the community, the way in which the
people of Hackney came together to support each other and local
businesses shows the true spirit of Hackney
2. The Council and its partners should continue to work with the community and its representatives to build on the improvements we have seen in the borough in recent years
3. The Council and its partners should work with the community to examine the underlying causes of the disturbances.â€
