Denham Parish Council - The withdrawal of the County Council's Parish Paths Partnership Rights of Way scheme as from 1 April 2010 PDF 153 KB

The withdrawal of the County Council's Parish Paths Partnership Rights of Way scheme as from 1 April 2010.  It was an excellent example of partnership working in practice, enabling Parish Councils to carry out work on rights of way and to be refunded in a planned and economical way. County Councillors need to be aware that they have a statutory responsibility to maintain rights of way in an unobstructed and useable state. We trust that the County Council will now at least adopt a positive stance to requests for grants from Parish Councils and community groups to carry out local works especially clearance. If they do not, the County Council will end up spending even more money than they save by having to deal with complaints about rights of way from the public who the County Council serves, or carry out clearance work in an unplanned way or at short notice.

Answer:-  Plus 2 reports

Throughout the Medium term planning process last year it was constantly flagged up with Members what BCC’s responsibilities were and what (relatively) small amounts of money was dealt with. A cut to the revenue budget that amounting to some 21% of what was able to be spent was made by Members with the amount left being prioritised across the whole county.
