To consider passing the following resolution:

 

That, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item(s) of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act.  The Public Interest Test has been applied and favours exclusion of the information from the Press and Public.

Building Schools for the Future Programme - Recruitment of Project Director

The Committee will interview candidates for the post of the Project Director for the Building Schools for the Future Programme.

 

Please note any appointment to the post will be subject to the consideration of any material or well founded objection to the appointment by a member of the Cabinet.

 

A copy of the report produced by the Council’s Recruitment Consultants, Gatenby Sanderson is attached in a separate document.

Minutes:

The Committee interviewed two candidates for the post of Project Director for the Building Schools for the Future Programme.

 

The Committee also considered a report by the Council’s Recruitment Consultants, Gatenby Sanderson, which provided an appraisal and technical assessment of each candidate, together with a copy of their application for the post and Rachel Hannan, Lead Partner - North from Gatenby Sanderson, reported on the feedback from the candidates’ sessions with the Stakeholder Groups on 4 March 2010.

 

RESOLVED:  That

 

(1)      Michael McSorley, Head of Regeneration and Technical Services for Sefton Council be appointed to the post of Project Director for the Building Schools for the Future Programme at a commencing salary of £77,979 per annum (Hay Service Director 3) and

 

(2)      the offer of appointment be subject to the Personnel Director notifying the Cabinet of the recommendation in (1) above and ascertaining whether any Cabinet Member has a material or well-founded objection to the appointment.
