To consider passing the following resolution:

 

That, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item(s) of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act.  The Public Interest Test has been applied and favours exclusion of the information from the Press and Public.

Building Schools for the Future - Recruitment of Project Director and Project Manager

Copies of the reports produced by the Council’s Recruitment Consultants, Gatenby Sanderson in respect of the two posts are attached as separate documents.

Minutes:

The Committee considered the joint report of the Strategic Director - Communities, Strategic Director - Children, Schools and Families and the Director of Corporate Services which sought the approval of two short lists of candidates to be invited to take part in the final two day interview process for the recruitment of the Project Director for the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Programme on 4 and 5 March 2010 and the recruitment of the Project Manager on 11 and 12 March 2010.

 

The report also provided details of the costs to be met in relation to the appointment of Gatenby Sanderson as the Recruitment Consultants for the two posts.

 

Following the last meeting of the Committee on 13 January 2010, the Council’s Recruitment Consultants, Gatenby Sanderson had conducted preliminary interviews and technical assessments of all the long-listed Candidates for the two posts and the Committee considered reports by Gatenby Sanderson which provided a preliminary assessment of the long-list of candidates and details of their applications for the two posts.

 

The Committee also discussed the arrangements for the two-day interview process for the two posts which would include formal interviews by the Committee of the Candidates for the post of the BSF Project Director on 5 March 2010 and the DSF Project Manager on 12 March 2010.

 

 

RESOLVED:            That

 

(i)         the 6 applicants for the post of the BSF Project Director as recommended by Gatenby Sanderson be short-listed for the post and invited to take part in the final two day interview process on 4 and 5 March 2010;

 

(ii)        the 5 applicants for the post of the BSF Project Manager as recommended by Gatenby Sanderson be short-listed for the post and invited to take part in the final two day interview process on 11 and 12 March 2010;

 

(iii)       the inclusion of Howard Cooper (Strategic Director - Children’s Services, Wirral Council) as an observer at the formal interviews for the two posts on 5 and 12 March 2010 be noted; and

 

(iv)       the costs to be met by the Council in relation to the appointment of Gatenby Sanderson as the Recruitment Consultants for the two posts be noted.
