To receive as a correct record the minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 8^th October 2008.

The minutes of the meeting of the Licensing Committee held on 8^th October 2008 were received as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

The representative of the Executive Director of Corporate Resources reported that no Declarations of Interest had been submitted by Members.

The Committee considered the report of the Borough Solicitor and Secretary which advised Members on the need to carryout a study into the demand and usage of hackney carriages and private hire vehicles in Knowsley.

RESOLVED –

(i)         That the report be noted;

(ii)        that the Head of Environmental Health and Consumer Protection be authorised to commission a study into the demand and usage of hackney carriages and private hire vehicles in Knowsley and report the findings back to a future meeting of the Committee;

(iii)       that approval be given for the study to be funded from the licensing budget; and

(iv)       that the start of the study be deferred until the outcome of the Public Inquiry into the redevelopment of Kirkby Town Centre had been announced.

The Executive Director of Corporate Resources submitted, for information, the minutes of the meeting of the Licensing Sub Committee 2A held on 30^th October 2008.

RESOLVED – That the minutes be noted.
